Carbon fiber-reinforced 3D printing material is one of the hot research topics in recent years.  It combines the freeform manufacturing capabilities of 3D printing technology with the high strength and lightweight characteristics of carbon fiber-reinforced materials, offering vast application prospects.  Recently, WONSTAR has assisted the School of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University in conducting experiments on 3D printing carbon fiber composites.

The main content of the experiment is to explore how to design and produce carbon fiber composites using 3D printing technology. A comparison will be made with carbon fiber composites manufactured using traditional processes, summarizing the advantages and disadvantages. This effort aims to contribute to the future development of 3D printed carbon fiber.

Researchers discuss the 3D printing technology of Fiber Reinforced Composites (FRP) from technical, economic, and environmental perspectives. 3D printing UHPC (3DPC) is a rapid prototyping technology based on a three-dimensional building information model. The advantages of 3D printing, such as frameless construction, low labor costs, and quick construction, contribute significantly to its research value compared to traditional methods.

 

The tensile performance, crack control ability, formability, and cost control ability of fiber-reinforced composites are superior to conventional materials. Therefore, the application of fiber-reinforced composites is expected to become more widespread. Various propositions, such as the classification of three-dimensional printable fiber-reinforced composites, processability during printing, mechanical properties in the cured state, and future opportunities and current challenges of 3D printing fiber-reinforced composites technology, will drive industry and technological development. They will bring new insights and revolutions to product design and manufacturing in various fields.
